No other food is more fitting for the female virtuose than wine. All therapeutic virtues of wine for men will also benefit the women. But this divine drink\food keeps some unique favors for the women. And nothing sounder for the one who is the most complex and evoluted creature that nature (or the Creator, if you prefer) conceived. And about that I am going to be concerned with for a while.
It is important to know that the benefical effects of wine concerning health only occur if it is drank moderately and regularly with the meals, for those who do not have any counterindications to the use of alcoholic drinks.
The adenocarcinoma of the female breast is the cancer that kills the greatest number of women. It has a direct association with the alcoholic drink ingestion, that is, the more alcohol a woman swallows, the greater probability she has of contracting such a disease.
Plenty of studies (over 10 in the last couple of years) show that when the swallowed drink is wine, there is a prevention against developing such a kind of cancer. Women who drink wine regularly and moderately during their meals have 50% less probability of developing ovarium cancer, besides showing bland climateric an menopause manifestations, as shown by Dr. Penny Webbi, from Australia, and Dr. Calabrese, from Italy, respectively. Dr. Tolstrup and other researchers have also shown a direct association between the consumption of drinks and the female infertility. However, the team of Dr. Juhl, studying 29.844 pregnant women in Danmark, confirmed such relation only for those women among them that consumed beer and distilled drinks, while there was an inverted relation for those among them who drank wine. There is also a wonderful study performed in France with 7.598 women above 75 that showed that those who had as a rule to drink up to three cups of wine a day, during the meals, were protected against developing osteoporosis. The Polyphenols of wine improve consistency, elasticity, hydration, and skin microcirculation a lot, giving it longer life.
Other studies, like the one performed by Dr. Yoshikawa, show that some of the polyphenols that can be found in great quantity in the wine destroy fat through inhibition of the metabolizing enzymes and decrease the production of adipose cells, as Dr. Pinent has shown recently.
It is due to that such facts I think wine is a food created by the gods to exalt the woman’s health, beauty, and soul.
"Drinking wine moderately, with the meals, if there the intake of alcoholic beverage is not counter-indicated, is an efficient way to prevent diseases, right after not smoking ", states Dr. Philip Norrie, Australian research physician.
Wine therapeutic qualities are in part due to alcohol and most of them are due to Polyphenols. These ones exist only in the vegetal kingdom and their function is to defend plants against physical attacks (ultraviolet rays) and biological attacks (fungi, viruses, and bacteria).
To exercise their function, they are located mainly in the grape leaves, barks, and seeds. That is way red wines (which are fermented with barks and seeds) have more Polyphenols and more therapeutic qualities than the white ones.
Studies comparing Polyphenols contents in the wines produced in the Serra Gaúcha with the ones from other parts of the world show, as a rule, higher phenolic contents in the wines from the Rio Grande do Sul.
Studies that measure Polyphenols in gaúcho wines from different varieties constantly find higher contents in the variety Merlot. For all this, theoretically, wines produced with Merlot grapes in the Serra Gaúcha are the ones with higher therapeutic qualities.
Red wine therapeutic qualities are already well known and divulged, but the benefits for health from Sparkling Wines are rarely mentioned.
The champagne gained its glory in the beginning of the twentieth century, when it became a symbol of the Belle Époque and started to be associated with social prestige and celebrations. However, till the end of the nineteenth century, it was known for its medicinal qualities. Distinguished physicians of that time recommended it for indigestion, rheumatisms, as diuretic, antiseptic, stimulant, to cheer the spirit and fortify the body.
In recent years, medical science has studied that prove the benefits of this virtuous beverage. It is already well-known that low alcohol contents associated with pleasant quantities of potassium, magnesium and carbon dioxide stimulate appetite and better the digestion, because they increase the production of digestion enzymes in the mouth, stomach and duodenum (beginning portion of the small intestine). Its diuretic action associated with significant quantities of Potassium and Magnesium is very interesting in various clinical situations. Its anti-rheumatic effect happens because substances in the champagne inhibit Cyclic-oxygenase, an enzyme that triggers inflammation processes. Sparkling wines are rich in Tyramine, a precursory substance to Serotonin. This is a neurotransmitter that is reduced in the brain of people suffering with depression, this being the probable anti-depression mechanism of this beverage. The champagne also has much N-acetyl-ethanol-amine, a substance that stimulates the limbic system, in the brain, where the center for pleasure and sexuality is located. It is possibly this amine the main response for this noble beverage to be the most used aphrodisiac.
It's true that drinking Sparkling Wine, moderately and with the food, is more than just elegancy and class, it's also... Health!!!
People who drink wine moderately, with meals, usually die later. Studies from 80 years ago (Dr. Dougnac) and more recent (Dr. Baspeyras) show the same results: the life expectation of these people is between 25 and 45% higher. Most of the places with higher longevity in the world are vineyard regions.
People who drink wine moderately, with meals, usually grow older with better life quality, i.e., they are more communicative, have more attention, less agitation and incontinence, higher IQ, and less demential diseases (75% less Alzheimer’s Diseases – as proved by Dr. Orgogozo, from University of Bordeaux).
The aging of cells, tissues (or organs) and organism as a whole is a result of the harmful action of free radicals. Our organism produces defenses against them, but this production decreases with time, meaning that the older we grow, the more exposed we are to the biological process of aging. Wines, especially the red ones, are rich in polyphenols, which are potent free radicals eliminators. That is way people who drink wine with moderation, with meals, usually die later and grow old with better life quality.
